Carrol Boyes has launched the fifth annual Metal 2009 new Designer Search, which seek to encourage, unearth and nurture new product design talent in South Africa. This year aspiring designers are invited to submit a three-dimensional prototype based on the theme ‘FRUITFULL – Design beyond the Bowl’. “The word ‘Fruitfulness’ evokes an image of fullness, an abundance, an overflowing of something whether it be an object that is filled to the brim or an idea that has burgeoned and come to fruition,” Carrol Boyes said, when explaining her choice of this year’s theme. The Indonesian government is again offering the Darmasiswa Scholarship for a variety of disciplines at Indonesian universities.
